Within a short walk and north from the city center, along a creek called Sint Jansbeek, Park Sonsbeek is located. The park features waterfalls, fountains, small lakes, a garden area, long green lanes and a watermill (a possibly 13th century watermill, the only watermill left from several watermills which where located along the Sint Jansbeek). Further there is Het Nederlands Water Museum, Landhuis Sonsbeek (a white mansion and former hotel) and kasteel Zypendaal in the northern part of the park, where Sint Jansbeek becomes surface water. Park Sonsbeek is a nice area for walk or jog around with hilly forest paths, unexpected but the north of Arnhem is a hilly region.

Subsurface Building
Beside the main glass building of the Institute of the Arts (ArtEZ), designed by Gerrit Thomas Rietveld in 1957, you find the subsurface building (foreground) of the Arnhem Theatre and Dance School at Onderlangs with the windows on top of the structure. Happily, through creating a underground building, the view from river Rhine to the high grounds behind the subterranean building remains. The high grounds (stuwwal) were formed during the ice age; Arnhem is built up against these high grounds.

15th Century
The Presickhaeffs House directly at the beginning of a small lane in the north of St. Eusebius Church. The original house was built in the 15th century. Some historical buildings have a metal plate which is telling something about their history - unfortunately it is written in Dutch. Most of the historical buildings like the Presickhaeffs House have been added to and rebuilt over time and now have parts from across the centuries.
